We see the world comme s'il était outside ourselves,

when, actually, nous en avons une représentation in our heads.

Thrust from the earth jusqu'au soleil, un arbre est une image standing for a kind of joy. To comprehend that image we must be quite still, tout comme cet arbre. When we move, it is the tree that becomes the spectator.

In this picture, who is the spectator : le galet, son exacte représentation en oiseau ou le peintre qui semble absorbé par le galbe parfait de la pierre ? 

And what about the chair ?
